About This Spot
Stepping into Daddy Bao feels like discovering a quietly tucked-away treasure in the heart of Tooting. There’s a calm intimacy here, where warm, dim lighting and cozy seating encourage slow conversations and comfortable moments shared over thoughtfully crafted food and drinks. The space hums with a gentle buzz—a subtle blend of neighborhood familiarity and a touch of something refreshingly different.
This is a place that invites you to lean in, whether you’re settling in for an unhurried brunch or a relaxed evening with cocktails. At Daddy Bao, food is an exploration marked by playful combinations and textures that surprise without overwhelming. Dumplings bring soft satisfaction, while baos offer layers of rich, slow-braised pork or crispy, marinated chicken with house-made sauces that speak of genuine care in every bite. Vegetarians have their share of thoughtful options too, like teriyaki shiitake or silky tofu baos—each dish crafted to balance tradition with a lively, modern spirit.
Drinks here are more than an afterthought; they’re part of the story. Whether it’s a bright, tangy passionfruit martini or a carefully balanced plum wine negroni, the cocktail selections complement the flavors and the mood. The thoughtful bar downstairs is a quiet yet lively retreat where the clink of glasses matches the easygoing vibe.
Daddy Bao has quietly found a way to blend the comfort of a local favorite with the thrill of something new to discover. It is the kind of spot that welcomes both regulars and first-timers alike, making each visit feel like a gentle adventure into the heart of Taiwanese cuisine and convivial company.

The pickled cucumber, chicken dumplings, beef bao and plum negroni were gorgeous. Atmosphere is a really cute date spot, nice low lighting and seat around the bar make it nice and lowkey

Cute restaurant in tooting with great atmosphere and the friendliest, most helpful service. We went for brunch and tried a bunch of different plates, most of them recommended by our waiter. We liked everything! Nothing really blew us away to be completely honest, but the food in general was solid. Would recommend for a cute date.

Great concept, lovely vibe and good service - the staff knew the menu very well and were helpful and friendly. Food is delicious and their bar downstairs with a wonderful choice of cocktails was a huge plus! Thank you!

Absolute delight! Husband and I dined at Daddy Bao in Tooting on Sunday evening and we could not have a better experience. The restaurant is cozy and has a friendly atmosphere. The team is welcoming and super knowledgeable about the dishes. The food is flavoursome and definitely quench your hunger. Great value for money. We had the Christmas set menu (dumplings and baos with a twist) and supplemented with some more small plates (so much food) and had drinks and dessert for £96 with service charge (that is well deserved). We will surely return to try more dishes!

Came here for lunch and it didn’t disappoint. Great quality food and the Bao buns are really tasty. Service was amazing and food came out in good time. Great wee spot and amazing cuisine! 10/10 recommend.

A hidden Gem such delightful staff that work there. I go to restaurants throughout London often, and it's a shame I even have to say this, but this place service is one of the best i've witnessed in so long. Food is full of flavour. For the price you really can't complain. Worth every penny. Happily go here again. My new spot in Tooting me thinks.

This was such a lovely evening meal. The staff were brilliant, super friendly and really accommodating. The food was amazing, the beef bao buns were a fave! Lovely and intimate but also small and familiar.
